WRITING
Learning Lab’s writing program builds upon students’ skills to help them reach new heights as writers while also fostering a love of writing by encouraging students to write on topics that are interesting and relevant to them. The writing process guides students through writing projects in different genres, including many types of expository, narrative, and persuasive texts, as well as poetry. They also engage in games, exercises, and interactive activities that make writing fundamentals and strategies fun to learn and easier to remember. Finally, children in our writing program work as part of a community of writers, sharing ideas, encouraging each other, providing and receiving feedback, and celebrating finished work together. Students participating in Learning Lab’s writing class develop greater confidence in their writing abilities as well as a lifelong love for writing. Writing classes are suggested for children in grades 1 through 6.
